Blaise Matuidi tests positive for coronavirus: Juventus star latest footballer to contract Covid-19

Juventus have confirmed that Blaise Matuidi has tested positive for coronavirus.

Matuidi is the second Juventus played to contract Covid-19, following on from team-mate Daniele Rugani's diagnosis last week.

Italy is currently on lockdown as officials attempt to halt the spread of coronavirus, with Serie A suspended until further notice as the sporting world deals with the pandemic.

Matuidi, 32, is now voluntarily self-isolating at home, with Juventus confirming that the midfielder is feeling well and is asymptomatic.

A club statement read: "Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to the Coronavirus-COVID-19.

"The player, as of Wednesday 11 March, has been in voluntary home isolation. He will continue to be monitored and will follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic."

With football reeling from the impact of coronavirus, Uefa confirmed on Tuesday that Euro 2020 has been postponed until next year, and will attempt to complete the current season before June 30 - if possible.
