Betting news: Man Utd favourites to burst Spurs bubble

11 April 2012

Manchester United were no doubt cheering on Tottenham as they beat Chelsea last Saturday but their gratitude is unlikely to stretch as far as this weekend's Old Trafford encounter.

The Red Devils have not lost any of their last 21 tussles with Spurs and are again expected to see off Harry Redknapp's side with a bit to spare.

The Londoners may be coming off huge wins over the Blues and Arsenal but are far less of a threat away from home, losing 3-0 on the road against both those teams and 2-0 at Liverpool.

That lack of penetration against top defences makes 8/5 at Paddy Power for United to win to nil appealing, while Boylesports go a tempting 13/10 for the home side to be ahead at half-time and full-time.

Arsenal and Manchester City must both lift themselves from damaging defeats and 13/5 at Victor Chandler for an Emirates Stadium stalemate makes plenty of sense.

Paddy Power have also come up with some interesting special bets to mark Emmanuel Adebayor's first return to his former stomping ground.

Following his controversial goal celebration at Eastlands earlier this season, punters can bet on how loudly Adebayor's first touch will be booed by the Gooners, with 121 to 125 decibels the 9/4 market leader.

Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre are 3/1 joint-favourites to commit the first foul on the striker, who is 33/1 to again run the length of the pitch if getting on the scoresheet.

Finally, for those who feel it is time Roberto Mancini accepted winter is well and truly over, it is 11/2 that he does not wear his now famous retro blue and white scarf.

Nottingham boxer Carl Froch continues his quest to win the Super Six World Boxing Classic on Saturday night but faces a tough task when taking on home hero Mikkel Kessler in Denmark.

The Cobra will also be defending his WBC super-middleweight title and a perfect 26-0 record but has laboured through his last two victories over Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell.

Kessler, who gave Joe Calzaghe a good test in 2007, is coming off a defeat to Andre Ward in America but has never been beaten in his own country and should be backed at 8/11 to oblige or 2/1 to prevail on points.

The World Snooker Championship continues at the Crucible and Ronnie O'Sullivan's second-round clash with Mark Williams is one match which catches the eye.

The Rocket had to survive a spirited fightback from Liang Wenbo but showed better form than Williams produced in a scrappy defeat of Marcus Campbell, so take the favourite to win by at least three frames at 4/5 with Sky Bet.
