The Michael Jackson statue controversially installed outside Craven Cottage by former Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed is set to be history.

The club's new owner Shahid Khan has decided Al Fayed's tribute to the late pop star which was erected behind the Hammersmith stand in 2011 is too off the wall for the club's supporters.

The statue will be returned to Al Fayed.

A Fulham spokesperson confirmed: "The statue is not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course."

The tribute was put up in memory of the singer who died in 2009 by Al Fayed who insisted that the Bad star was an ardent Fulham supporter after watching a match at Craven Cottage in 1999.

It was ridiculed by many of the club's fans but an unconcerned Fayed said at the time that anyone who didn't appreciate it could 'go to hell.'
