Bayern reiterate end of interest in Alexis Sanchez: 'A deal makes no sense'

1/27

Bayern Munich have reiterated their stance on Alexis Sanchez after ending their interest in the Arsenal forward.

The Bundesliga giants were keen to bring the Chilean to the Allianz Arena but were unwilling to match wage demands in excess of £300,000 a week.

Bayern sporting director Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has previously underlined a focus on signing younger stars and has now ruled out adding another attacking talent to the squad.

"I don't know what [Sanchez] has said but we are no longer involved.

"We are in agreement with the coach [Carlo Ancelotti] and we won't be doing another deal for an attacker. That makes no sense."

Bayern have already signed James Rodriguez on a two-year loan from Real Madrid, Serge Gnabry - formerly of Arsenal - and Kingsley Coman made his loan from Juventus permanent.

Arsene Wenger suggested Sanchez, who has one year remaining on his contract, is happy to stay in north London this summer but the player has painted a different picture more recently.

"I've already taken my decision, but now I depend on Arsenal and to see what they want," he said.

"My idea is to play in and win the Champions League. It's a dream that I've had since I was small. For now I'm at Arsenal and my contract finishes in another year."
