Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from Manchester United's 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

United travelled to Munich knowing they needed at least one goal to advance to the last four of the Champions League.

Antonio Valencia scored past Manuel Neuer in the first period but saw his effort chalked off for offisde.

But United did take an unlikely lead when Valencia's cross skipped through to Patrice Evra who unleashed an unstoppable left-footed drive past the helpless Neuer.

The visitors' joy was short-lived, however, as first Mario Mandzukic and then Thomas Mueller reversed the deficit in an impressive show of the European champions' mettle.

Arjen Robben put the tie beyond doubt when his deflected effort found De Gea's bottom corner with just 15 minutes to go.
