Bayern Munich players celebrated their winning start to this season’s Champions League campaign with a beer-drinking trip to mark the build-up to Oktoberfest.

The Bayern squad, who kicked off their European hopes with a comfortable 3-0 win over Belgian side Anderlecht on Tuesday, head to the world’s biggest beer festival each year, kitted out in the finest traditional Bavarian clobber.

The huge festival began in the 1800s and runs from the third weekend in September to the first weekend in October, with Bayern regular attendees.

Despite having been involved in somewhat of a touchline tantrum during the Champions League win, French international Frank Ribery was seen in high spirits during the promotional event, and led the way as the squad sang a happy 28th birthday to Thomas Muller.

While Bayern were all smiles at the event, Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti will be keen to see his side get back to winning ways in the Bundesliga against Mainz on Saturday having lost to Hoffenheim last weekend.
