Barnet face up to grim reality

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Barnet's season is imploding so dramatically they are in danger of going out of the Football League.

Their 1-0 defeat at Accrington Stanley last night means they are now within sight of being caught by second-bottom Grimsby Town, whom they face on Saturday.

A sixth successive Barnet defeat would leave the Mariners just a point behind Ian Hendon's team with one game to go. And Barnet's last match is at home to second placed, already-promoted Rochdale.

A win at Grimsby would make the Bees safe but confidence is at rock bottom.

Last night's defeat came after Barnet's sixth trip to Acccrington this season. The game had been postponed four times, while they also lost at Stanley in the FA Cup.

The match was settled by substitute Billy Kee's 70th-minute goal.
