Arthur to Juventus: Barcelona have not agreed transfer; midfielder still wants to stay

Ben Hayward23 June 2020

Barcelona midfielder Arthur is still hoping to stay at Camp Nou, despite fresh rumours he will join Juventus this summer.

Sky Sports claimed on Tuesday that the Catalan club had reached an agreement to sell the Brazilian to the Italian champions fo £72.5million (€80m), but Standard Sport understands there is no deal in place.

Barca are looking to raise funds this summer and are interested in a swap deal plus cash which would see Juventus' Miralem Pjanic join the Spanish champions and Arthur move the other way.

But the Brazilian has insisted he has no intention of leaving Barcelona and his stance has not changed since he released a statement through his communications company in April.

Arthur has made 70 appearances and scored four goals since signing from Gremio in the summer of 2018, but the Brazilian has started just one of Barcelona's three games since LaLiga restarted earlier in June.

The 23-year-old, who is popular with fans at Camp Nou, is in the squad for Tuesday night's clash at home to Athletic Club in LaLiga.
