Avram Grant wants ref ruling

11 April 2012

Avram Grant, who begins a two-match touchline suspension tomorrow at Bolton, wants clarification from the Football Association on what is acceptable criticism of referees.

Grant was handed the FA ban and fined £6,000 for his comments about official Mike Jones's display in West Ham's 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final defeat Stoke last month.

"It is something I need to think about. I don't know why they gave me this ban but I don't want to say too much because everyone is sensitive," said the Hammers boss.

"The ban doesn't change anything. The referee against Stoke made plenty of mistakes in the second half and I said honestly what I felt. I asked the League Managers' Association to set up a meeting with the FA to make things more clear, to tell us what we can say and what we cannot. For me things cannot continue the way they are. I think we need clarification regarding what we can say."
