Arsene Wenger trains with Gunnersaurus, what is he planning?

Arsene Wenger has been scouring far and wide across Europe as he hunts for a new striker. But could he have found a solution closer to home?

The Arsenal manager was seen training with club mascot Gunnersaurus in the pouring rain at the club’s Colney training base, with Wenger selecting the dinosaur as his penalty taker for the club’s dizzy goals challenge.

Gunnersaurus, the last of a noble breed that once ruled the earth, has served as Arsenal’s mascot since 1994 but the club have never once thought to turn to the eight-footer in the search for pace and power up top.

It seems, though, that with a game against Stoke just weeks away the Arsenal manager perhaps intends to fight fire with fire. Will it be Geoff Cameron and Glenn Whelan versus Gunnersaurus?

You can make up your own mind by watching the video of his penalty attempt, as well as those of regulars Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott below
