Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has insisted he was pleased to see teammate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in action after the Germany international was filmed shaking his head as the substitution was made.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had been out for five months with a knee problem, was brought on for the injured Tomas Rosicky ahead of Podolski during Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa last night.

Podolski, who last started for the Gunners on New Year’s Day, was filmed sitting on the bench and shaking his head just before the substitution was made.

However, after the game, Podolski tweeted in support of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

He wrote: “Good feeling to see Ox on the pitch again. I’m happy for you, bro!”

Arsenal will travel to Fulham this coming Saturday in the Premier League, with Arsene Wenger’s side looking to maintain their lead over the chasing pack.
