Arsenal star Jack Wilshere and Chelsea defender David Luiz have joined a host of the world's top footballers for a new Pepsi ad campaign.
The England star and his Brazilian counterpart star in the new ads set for the world's TV screens in March ahead of the 2014 World Cup, in a line-up that includes Robin van Persie, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Aguero and Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
Dubbed the 'super six' by Pepsi due to their global
recognition, they will be bolstered by additional footballing stars
representing their home countries, including: Juan Guillermo
Cuadrado (Colombia), Clint Dempsey (USA), Tarik Elyounoussi
(Norway), Maynor Figueroa (Honduras), Mario Gomez (Germany),
Vincent Kompany (Belgium), Kemar Lawrence (Jamaica), Victor Moses
(Nigeria), Peter Osaze Odemwingie (Nigeria), Oribe Peralta
(Mexico), Andriy Pyatov (Ukraine), Mohamed Salah (Egypt) and Gylfi
Por Sigurðsson (Iceland).
The theme of the campaign is 'Live for Now'. Speaking during the ad shoot, David Luiz commented: "Playing football is about making the most of every second on the pitch and showing your love and character for the game – and for the fans. I can't wait to join fans from across the world and celebrate a big year for football."
Although Pepsi are not World Cup sponsors, the soft drinks giant traditionally launch a new ad campaign in every year the tournament takes place to capitalise on the buzz around the event.
In 2010 stars including Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba teamed up for a match with kids in Africa, while 2006 saw David Beckham, Ronaldinho amongst others challenge a group of Lederhosen-wearing Bavarian dancers.
