Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is refusing to give up on finishing above Tottenham and remaining the top team in north London.

The Gunners haven't finished below Spurs in the table under Wenger and not since 1995 have Tottenham celebrated finishing higher than their neighbours.

Arsenal fans have since coined the phrase St. Totteringham's Day to mark the moment in each campaign when they can no longer be overtaken by their rivals.

Wenger's men celebrated that feat on the final day of last season, when victory over Aston Villa saw them leapfrog Tottenham, who were beaten convincingly by relegated Newcastle.

But a win for second-placed Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday would ensure they finish above Arsenal with four games to spare and Wenger has brushed off the threat.

"If, if, if..." said the Frenchman. "We live with when and our next performance.

“The priority for us is to finish in the top four, after that for the pride and the continuity of our achievements we want to fight to be in front of Spurs.

“But, first of all, we need to finish in the top four.”

Asked whether he agreed with Jose Mourinho's verdict that Manchester City have secured third place, he added: "We do not have to speculate on who is in or not in."

The Gunners are 14 points behind Tottenham in the table having played a game less, and head into the derby at White Hart Lane following successive Premier League victories.

Arsenal booked their place in the FA Cup Final with a win over Manchester City at Wembley last weekend, while Tottenham lost the other semi-final to Chelsea.

But Spurs have won eight straight top flight matches and are favourites to win on Sunday.

“This is one of the only times where Spurs look in people’s minds as the favourites," Said Wenger.
