Mesut Ozil has been left out of the Arsenal squad for the Europa League knockout tie against BATE Borisov on Thursday.

The German trained with the rest of the squad at London Colney on Thursday morning, having missed the win at Huddersfield through illness, but has not travelled to Belarus.

Aaron Ramsey is also absent for the first game since his summer move to Juventus was confirmed, because of a knee injury, as is Greek defender Sokratis.

Better news for Unai Emery is that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in contention after missing the Huddersfield game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Emery confirmed the absentees.

"We are here with the players who I think are OK to play," he said. "The players not in the squad is because Ramsey has not trained with us, Sokratis has started to train but not enough, Mesut is the same.

"Aubameyang started Monday and I think he is okay for the match."

Arsenal squad: Cech, Leno, Elneny, Koscielny, Mkhitaryan, Lacazette, Torreira, Lichtsteiner, Aubameyang, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Monreal, Mustafi, Suarez, Guendouzi, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Nketiah
