Arsenal will not be rushed into agreeing a new deal with Arsene Wenger with club CEO Ivan Gazidis confirming that the deal would be done “in our own time”.

Wenger’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Arsenal manager, who celebrated his 20th anniversary with the club on October 1, has made clear he will not be rushed into a decision amid interest from the FA regarding a full-time role with England.

Should he choose to extend his stay, Wenger would likely be offered a new deal by the Emirates hierarchy providing Arsenal’s performances remain of sufficient quality.

But Gazidis, who was speaking at the Sport At The Service Of Humanity conference in the Vatican City, confirmed to the Associated Press that the club are relaxed about their manager’s future.

“Arsenal is not Arsene Wenger. They're not one and the same thing. ... In a football sense, he has transformed the club.”
