Sergio Aguero is expected to start his first game in nearly a month for Manchester City against Arsenal tonight.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined with a heel problem since November 28.

He had only just returned from a seven week lay off when suffering this latest setback but he has since returned to full training and is in line to feature at Emirates Stadium this evening.

Despite appearing in just 14 games in all competitions this season, Aguero remains City’s joint top-scorer with nine goals - level with Raheem Sterling, who has played in 11 more.

Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez is back in training for Arsene Wenger's side and is also in contention to play.

The Chile international injured his hamstring during the north Londoners' 1-1 draw with Norwich last month and has missed two top-flight games since he initially suffered the problem.

Arsenal are five points adrift of pacesetters Leicester at the top of the table but victory over Manuel Pellegrini's side would cut the gap to just two ahead of a flurry of festive fixtures.
