Arsenal vs Barcelona: How Gunners can beat Champions League holders at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal are attempting to join a select group of just three teams to have beaten Barcelona this season: Atletico Bilbao, Celta Vigo and Seville.

As ever, Arsene Wenger will try and do it his way. There have been signs over the past 13 months of greater flexibility in his tactical approach, not least in resisting the temptation to assert territorial and possession advantage over superior teams.

Last January’s 2-0 win at Manchester City was seen as something of a watershed in this respect. Victories this season against Bayern Munich and City once again suggested this was no fluke, although Standard Sport columnist Harry Redknapp opined that Arsenal simply couldn’t get the ball from Bayern, therefore their strategy of sitting deep was a reaction rather than an instruction.

Barcelona will dominate possession in similar fashion - Wenger admitted as much prior to the game - so how do Arsenal pull off an unlikely win to keep their Champions League hopes alive?
