Bayern Munich want to sign Serge Gnabry from Arsenal on a permanent deal.

They are expected to make a late move for the 21-year-old and plan to immediately loan him out to Werder Bremen.

But Arsene Wenger is reluctant to sell and the player, who had an unsuccessful loan spell with West Brom last season, would have to force through a move.

Gnabry has made only 19 first-team appearances for Arsenal and has just returned from the Rio 2016 Olympics, where he won a silver medal with Germany.

Earlier this month, Wenger said: "I want to keep Serge Gnabry and extend his contract,' Wenger said at his press conference on Thursday.

"I think we stood by him. He went to West Brom, didn't play, we had to rebuild his confidence. I allowed him to go to the Olympics to help Germany."
