The father of Arsenal target Shkodran Mustafi has claimed 'two or more' clubs are chasing the defender's signature.

The Gunners are desperate for defensive reinforcements amid an injury crisis at Emirates Stadium, but Arsene Wenger is so far unwilling to meet Valencia's £30million valuation.

Laurent Koscielny is expected to return for Saturday's trip to Leicester, but Arsenal remain without Gabriel and Per Mertesacker, who are both nursing long-term problems.

While Wenger retains an interest in Mustafi - indeed, he remains tthe Frenchman's top target, he has identified cheaper alternatives should the club fail to strike a deal for the Germany international.

And the player's father and representative has warned Arsenal that other clubs have come forward as they hesitate over the transfer.

He told Goal: "Very soon you will know about the future of Mustafi."

Adding: "Two or more clubs are in negotiations"
