Winger’s rave reviews likely to attract summer transfer interest

Crystal Palace could struggle to keep Michael Olise this summer after the winger’s star displays at Selhurst Park, Roy Hodgson has admitted.

The former Reading winger racked up his ninth assist of the season in the weekend win over Wolves, as he earned rave reviews in another fine attacking display from the Eagles.

Caretaker boss Hodgson has insisted that he is not involved in the determining the future of his players amid speculation that Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on Olise.

When asked if he was worried that the 21-year-old could attract interest, he replied: “If I was Steve Parish I would be.

“But I’m Roy Hodgson for the next few weeks and I wish them all well. I don’t have any conversations regarding contracts and what the club wants to do.

“If ever they need an opinion from me I know they’ll ask for it but I certainly won’t be proferring it.”

However, Hodgson has suggested that Olise still needs time to develop his game before reaching the top level, in particular in front of goal.

“I think he needs to get more goals,” the manager added. “He’s got goals in him. He cut inside on his left foot on a few occasions and got good strikes away.

“But all the time he’s producing those goals for us like he’s doing, we’re more than happy with him. He’s another player I see getting better in terms of doing things we want him to do.”
