Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Paulo Dybala contact, fresh Lisandro Martinez talks and Serge Gnabry update

Jonathan Gorrie4 July 2022

Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start to the summer transfer window, with a deal for Gabriel Jesus now surely only hours away from official confirmation.

The Brazilian will almost certainly follow Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira into the club, while Mikel Arteta and Edu focus on strengthening in other areas.

Having come so close to returning to Champions League football last season, decision-makers in north London are doing their utmost to challenge once more.

Here’s the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.

Contact: Arsenal have reportedly launched a move for Paulo Dybala

Italian outlet La Repubblica claim both Manchester United and Arsenal have made contact with agents working on behalf of Paulo Dybala.

One of the most high-profile free agents on the market this summer, the Argentine had been strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan after leaving Juventus at the end of his contract.

A player thought to have rejected moves to the Premier League earlier in his career, Dybala will likely have a number of offers this summer.

Lisandro Martinez

United are also believed to be rivalling Arsenal in their attempts to sign Lisandro Martinez.

The Ajax international is admired by Arteta and the Gunners are keen to wrap up a deal quickly, though interest from Old Trafford could complicate matters on that front.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal will hold talks with the Dutch giants this week in an effort to get a deal over the line.

With a deal for Raphinha looking unlikely, media reports had tipped Arsenal for a move for Serge Gnabry.

A former Gunner of course, the German’s refusal to sign a new deal at Bayern Munich has seen him linked with a move to a number of top European sides.

Fabrizio Romano, however, has revealed Arsenal are focusing on other targets “as things stand”.
