Lyon caught the attention of Arsenal fans with some urgent Houssem Aouar news on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners remain heavily linked with the midfielder with reports in France over the weekend claiming Lyon have rejected an opening offer for their star.

Lyon are believed to want a transfer fee in the region of £44million for a player who was key to the Ligue 1 side reaching the Champions League semi-finals last season.

With speculation over his future growing, Lyon tweeted 'AOUAR NEWS' on Sunday afternoon - but merely to inform supporters the 22-year-old will be making his 100th appearance for the club against Lorient this afternoon.

Addressing reports of a bid from Arsenal in recent days, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas suggested the Gunners are still some way from meeting their valuation.

"There will be very few departures," he said. "Arsenal are too far away from Houssem's value.

"We are counting on him to put in a great display away to Lorient [on Sunday] and lead Olympique Lyonnais into the Champions League next year."
