Arsenal target Julian Draxler could leave admits Schalke chief Horst Heldt

Schalke chief Horst Heldt has handed a boost to Arsenal in their bid to sign Julian Draxler by admitting the midfielder could leave the Bundesliga club.

Draxler signed a new six-year deal in the summer, but it is believed to include a £35m release clause. The Gunners have targeted the 20-year-old as a possible replacement for the injured Theo Walcott.

And manager Arsene Wenger has been given added incentive to follow up his interest after general manager Heldt said Schalke are not in full control of the Draxler situation.

"We continue to hope that Julian stays," Heldt told Bild. "But there are things we cannot influence."
