Arsenal striker Giroud claims Spurs will feel the pressure

Olivier Giroud claims Arsenal’s victory over Norwich will pile the pressure on Tottenham in the race for the Champions League.

The Gunners climbed to third in the table with a 3-1 victory at Emirates Stadium courtesy of three late goals from Mikel Arteta, Giroud and Lukas Podolski.

Arsene Wenger’s side have now won seven of their last eight Premier League games and can move four points clear of their north London rivals and Chelsea with another win against Everton tomorrow night.

Norwich battled stoically and took the lead through Michael Turner’s 56th-minute header before Kei Kamara was adjudged by referee Mike Jones to have tugged Giroud’s shirt in the box.

And the Frenchman believes the momentum they have generated is turning up the heat on Spurs.

“We never give up and try to play until the end of the game, that’s one of our qualities,” he said. “We had a little bit of luck and it’s so good to win this game because we can put the pressure on Spurs.

“We know that all games will be difficult to win so we have to continue to keep focused and take one game after another and grab maximum points.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal Ladies were beaten 2-0 at home by Wolfsburg in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final yesterday.
