Arsenal are set to unveil a statue of Dennis Bergkamp outside Emirates Stadium before the start of next season.

Although the club today refused to confirm their plans, images of the new figure — capturing Bergkamp in flight in a game against Newcastle in 2003 (above) — were leaked online.

The Dutchman scored 120 goals in 423 games before retiring in 2006.

A club spokesman said: "We currently have statues outside Emirates Stadium commemorating three legends in Arsenal’s history — Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams and Thierry Henry.

"We’re pleased that speculation surrounding a future possible statue is generating interest and will obviously communicate details if and when there is confirmation of any new developments."

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s home match against Everton on March 9 has been moved to Tuesday April 16 after the Toffees reached the FA Cup quarter-finals with victory over Oldham.
