Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed that he is expecting to hold contract talks with Arsenal after seeing Bukayo Saka sign a new deal with the Gunners.

The Gabon forward - who is entering the final year of his contract - scored twice as Arsenal beat Norwich 4-0 to move above rivals Tottenham - for tonight at least.

Arsenal were also handed a major boost before the game, with teenage sensation Bukayo Saka signing what Standard Sport believes to be a four-year contract.

Speaking after the game, Aubameyang admitted to his delight following Saka's extension, insisting talks of his own are to come soon.

"I'm really happy Bukayo signed the thing," Aubameyang told BT Sport. "And now we'll talk with the club and we're going to see what happens.

"But first of all, I'm really focussed on the games until the end of the season."

Asked whether he sees the positive steps the club are taking, Aubameyang added: "Since Mikel [Arteta arrived] we are doing well. We're working very well and we have good signs that we are improving."

Arteta also commented on the talks after the game, insisting he remains positive Arsenal can keep their talisman for "many years".

"I don't know," he said of the progress of the talks. "I leave that to the football club and the senior people that drive those contracts.

"I am positive and I will remain positive we can keep him here for many years, but things have to progress."

It was the Aubameyang who capitalised on a horrendous Tim Krul error to give the Gunners 1-0 lead, in turn becoming the fastest Arsenal player in history to reach 50 Premier League goals.

The 31-year-old admitted to his delight at achieving such a feat.

"[I'm] really proud," he added. "But first of all, I'm proud of the team. What we did today, I think we deserved the win because we did a great job.

"Everyone worked very well today. So [I am] really happy and proud."

On making history, he added: "Yeah, I'm really happy today. My performance was good. I'm always happy to score goals, to win games."
