Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin will not be joining West Ham, says Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move to West Ham for midfielder Francis Coquelin this month, but concedes he may well leave Arsenal.

The French midfielder, who joined the Gunners from Stade Lavallois as a youngster in 2008, has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates this season.

Despite having three years remaining on his current deal in north London, a January move could well be a possibility with West Ham and Valencia both credited with interest.

However, speaking ahead of the EFL Cup clash with Chelsea, Wenger said the 26-year-old will not be joining their London rivals.

“It’s a possibility but nothing is decided,” Wenger said when asked if a January exit was a possibility for the midfielder.

When pressed on whether or not the London Stadium was a destination, Wenger added: “No, we have no contact with West Ham.”

Hammers boss David Moyes is on the hunt for additions in midfield as they battle against relegation.
