Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson's goal could not prevent Hoffenheim from slipping to a 2-1 home defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Nelson, who joined Hoffenheim on loan from Arsenal for the 2018-19 season, came on as a substitute in the 60th minute with Julian Nagelsmann's side two goals down.

The 18-year-old Arsenal academy graduate showed quick feet as he burst into the left-hand side of the Eintracht penalty area following a one-two with Joelinton, and smashed a half-volley past Kevin Trapp with seven minutes to go.

The goal was not enough for Hoffenheim in the end, but it will no doubt boost Nelson's chances of more game time in the Bundesliga this season.

Nelson has now scored two goals in 95 minutes of Bundesliga action, though both were in vain as his first came in a 2-1 defeat at Fortuna Dusseldorf in September.

Nelson is not the only English youngster making his mark in Germany, with Jadon Sancho currently having a big impact at Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho, who left Manchester City for Dortmund in 2017, has been called up to the England senior squad for the first time after a great start to the 2018-19 campaign.

The 18-year-old made his first Bundesliga start of the season on Saturday and notched his sixth assist of the season as BVB came from behind to beat Augsburg 4-3.
