With the Premier League season very nearly over it is already time for the top flight clubs to start plotting their summer business.

Arsenal in particular may find themselves forced into further spending after the loss of Danny Welbeck, who will be unavailable for the next nine months after cartilage damage to his right knee.

That has only intensified transfer talk linking them to both Alvaro Morata of Juventus and Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

As Standard Sport reported yesterday Granit Xhaka, another regular presence in the Arsenal transfer talk, is moving closer to an Emirates arrival after the Gunners submitted an £33.8million offer for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

But the Gunners aren’t the only club plotting high-profile additions in the summer. The Spanish media have linked Tottenham with a bid for Saul Niguez, whose remarkable solo goal secured victory for Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final with Bayern Munich.

Elsewhere West Ham are linked with a Nice wide-man and Manchester City could be set to sign a highly-rated Brentford youngster.
