Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is hopeful of making a long-awaited comeback in Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Burnley.

The Czech Republic international’s last outing for club or country came on 12 June, when he suffered a knee injury for which he later underwent surgery to correct in August.

Rosicky made a 45-minute appearance for the Gunners’ Under-21 side against Swansea last week and came through unscathed.

The 35-year-old is progressing well in an effort to face the Championship side after a week’s training with the first team. Francis Coquelin, who underwent knee surgery of his own in September, has also returned to full training and could earn a place on the bench.
