Arsenal XI vs Newcastle: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for game today

Marc Mayo3 January 2023

Arsenal named an unchanged side as they welcome Newcastle to the Emirates this evening.

Mikel Arteta’s Premier League leaders have little need for rotations given they will not play again for almost a week, which itself is an FA Cup trip to Oxford.

Gabriel Jesus once again misses out with a knee injury while Reiss Nelson is unavailable due to his hamstring issue.

Arteta recently indicated a January return for Emile Smith Rowe after groin surgery in September but the Newcastle match comes too soon for him.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is back from a hamstring injury but remains on the bench with Ben White the first-choice right-back.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has only just shaken off a problem but he keeps his place at left-back, with Kieran Tierney having to settle for a place on the bench again.

Eddie Nketiah continues up front, flanked by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Starting XI: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Xhaka, Partey, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Subs: Turner, Tierney, Holding, Tomiyasu, Vieira, Lokonga, Elneny, Marquinhos, Butler-Oyedeji.
