Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will discuss Alexandre Lacazette’s future at the club in the summer.

The Frenchman will have just one year to run on his contract from July and, if he does not sign an extension, he could leave for free in the summer of 2022.

Arsenal and Arteta are aware of that situation and as a result they plan to sit down with Lacazette to discuss his future at the end of this season.

The striker endured a tough start to the current campaign, but the 29-year-old has started to fire in recent weeks and scored twice against West Brom on Saturday to make it fives goals in his last four games.

“We will talk in the summer and make a decision then,” said Arteta. “We have not talked [now] about anything related to his contract.

“I am delighted with the way he has performed because he is scoring, has the form and energy at the moment, so he needs to keep doing that.”
