Arsenal remain hopeful they will tie Bukayo Saka down to a new contract and will hold further talks with him when he returns from England duty.

Saka is into the final two years of his contract at Arsenal and getting him to agree to fresh terms is a priority for the club this summer.

They have held initial talks with him and more will take place after this round of Nations League fixtures, with Saka given time to focus on performing for England.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester City in the future, but local reports up north have cooled that talk.

Liverpool are known admirers of the winger, though, and will undoubtedly be watching contract talks closely.

Saka has come through Arsenal’s academy and become a key player under Mikel Arteta, with who he has a good relationship.

Arsenal view the England international as a key part of their future going forward and want to tie him down to a long-term contract.

“Our desire is to keep Bukayo as long as possible because we are really happy. He is part of our club, our DNA, he is growing, he is maturing,” Arteta said in February.

“His importance in the team is unquestionable and we want to keep our best talent, that’s for sure.”
