Unai Emery says he has not spoken to Arsene Wenger since succeeding him at Arsenal and does not plan to seek any advice from his predecessor.
Emery was appointed as Arsenal head coach in May after Wenger announced his departure from the club after 22 years in charge.
Emery and Wenger are expected to meet at the annual managers' meeting in Nyon but Emery does not want any guidance on the squad he has inherited.
Emery said: “Each coach needs to know the players. Not all the coaches have the same relationship with a player and I have my personality. I want to know with my direct opinion, with my direct conversations with the player.
“I have information on the players for the club, from the people around me. The information with Arsene is also important for me but the best is my direct relationship and conversations with the players.
“Normally, when we meet every year in Nyon with the coaches, we have a conversation together. I am sure we will meet together in the next week or month or in the near future.”
Emery, meanwhile, has said he wants Aaron Ramsey to stay at Arsenal.
Ramsey is entering the final year of his contract at Emirates Stadium but Emery says the 27-year-old is “an important player” in his plans.

Emery said: “I am very happy with him. Every day in training sessions he has the ambition I want. He is working with quality I want. I want to work with him.
“In my opinion, which I said to the club, [chief executive] Ivan [Gazidis], [head of football relations] Raul [Sanllehi] and [head of recruitment] Sven [Mislintat], I think he is an important player for me.”
