Jamie Carragher says Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette are continually let down by "Sunday League" defending at Arsenal.

The Gunners held Chelsea to an entertaining 2-2 draw on Wednesday but Alvaro Morata was guilty of missing a number of chances even with Hector Bellerin conceding a penalty and losing Marcos Alonso for both Blues goals.

Bellerin made amends with an injury-time equaliser but Carragher feels the work of a front three "better than Manchester City" have long been undone by "poor and basic" work at the back.

"They aren't good enough. That has been the thing for a long time," he said on Sky Sports.

"In terms of going forward, Arsenal's front three is better than Manchester City or at least very close. But they still get let down by what goes on behind them.

"We have been saying it for years, Their defending is so poor and basic. This is Sunday League, Hackney Marshes defending. It has been happening for so long.

"That is why Arsenal won't win these big games at the moment."
