Tottenham will meet Arsenal this week to discuss their ticket allocation for the FA Cup third-round tie at Emirates Stadium.

Spurs are entitled to 9,000 tickets - 15 per cent of the ground’s capacity - but the two clubs will hold talks over the next few days before deciding the exact allocation.

Discussions will also take place between the police and television companies, with crowd segregation and kick-off time two factors that could affect the number.

With any high-profile game safety concerns could see the allocation reduced, but Arsenal gave Chelsea the full 9,000 tickets for their League Cup fourth-round tie earlier this season and that game passed without any crowd trouble.

Arsenal offered Tottenham just 5,173 tickets for a League Cup semi-final second-leg in 2007. In their first season at Emirates Stadium, the club was advised that it was unsafe to make the considerable increase from 3,000 to 9,000 away supporters in one single step. In a two-legged tie, Arsenal also wanted the allocation to reflect the number of tickets they would get at White Hart Lane.

The away allocation was similar for Tottenham’s League Cup semi-final first leg at Emirates Stadium in 2008.

Tickets prices for the FA Cup tie, to be held over the weekend of January 4-5, will be decided in due course.
