Garth Crooks has praised Antonio Conte for the work he has done at Chelsea this season, saying the Italian should be hailed for resurrecting Victor Moses' career while making the club's defence "almost impregnable".

Conte has steered Chelsea, who finished in the lowly position of 10th last season, to first place in the Premier League standings after overseeing 11 straight wins in the top flight since late September.

The former Italy and Juventus boss has achieved such a feat by switching to a 3-4-3 formation, in which wing-backs Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses help defend when opposition forwards attack, which has resulted in Chelsea conceding just twice in their last 11 games.

The change in system has helped Moses cement his place in Chelsea's first team while Conte is now the first Premier League manager to win 14 of his opening 17 games in the competition, according to Opta.

Such statistics and indeed performances from the likes of Moses, has left Crooks impressed - with the former Tottenham striker telling BBC Sport: "He has done something that is quite unique.

"No other English coach, outside of possibly Terry Venables, would have found a position in a team like Chelsea for Victor Moses.

"He has transformed their entire back five. They've become almost impregnable. Who would have thought it? This is a player who has been wandering from club to club for the last three years.

"Conte has seen him and turned an exciting winger into a credible player who can defend and attack in equal measure."
