Andy Johnson: I owe it to QPR to try to help them back into Premier League

Queens Park Rangers striker Andy Johnson wants to stay and fight for his place at the club having missed most of last season with a knee injury.

The former Crystal Palace forward joined from Fulham as a free agent last summer, but suffered a serious ligament injury against Chelsea in September.

Johnson has been linked with a move away from Loftus Road this summer, but he wants to help the club win promotion back to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old is back to full fitness and played the second half of QPR’s first pre-season friendly last night, which was a 0-0 draw against Exeter.

Johnson said: “QPR stood by me last season and I will stand by them this season. I’m a loyal player, I worked hard last season and a lot of the staff here put in a lot of work to get me back fit. I feel like I owe the club helping them to get back into the Premier League.

“I’ve had a good two weeks, I haven’t missed a session and I feel really sharp and fit.”
