Antonio Conte insists it is more important to see Chelsea's record signing Alvaro Morata gain a better understanding of how the champions play football than it is to see him score.

The Spaniard opened the scoring at the King Power as the Blues took three points from a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leicester City.

"It is a good day for the team and a good day for Alvaro [Morata]," Conte told reporters after the game.

"It is always important for the striker to score.

"But for me it is very important to see that he is improving and he is more involved in our idea of football and for me that is the most important thing.

"Then if he scores, I am very happy and I am pleased for the player."

Morata has enjoyed a good start to life at Chelsea after his £58m move from Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old’s strike against the Foxes makes it three goals and two assists in his first four games.
