Heerenveen centre forward Alfred Finnbogason has admitted his disappointment at not moving to the Premier League after the Dutch club reportedly turned down an £8m bid from Fulham.

Speaking to Dutch broadcasting outfit Omrop Friesland, Finnbogason revealed his frustration with Heerenveen who he claimed had reneged on a promise to accept bids of €10m.

He said: “They [Heerenveen] always said that they wanted €10m for me and now they didn’t want to co-operate.

“I am disappointed in Heerenveen because I can’t play in the Premier League.”

Finnbogason has been in prolific form this season and is currently the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 20 goals.

The 24-year-old Iceland international had subsequently attracted interest from clubs all over Europe and the Premier League, including Roma, Everton and Newcastle United.

Seeking to avoid relegation, Fulham had hoped to attract Finnbogason to add to an attack which now includes Konstantinos Mitroglou, who arrived from Olympiakos at the close of the transfer window.
