Summer signing Alexis Sanchez has been left out of Arsenal’s squad for their pre‑season trip to New York.

Sanchez, who arrived from Barcelona for £30million, has been awarded extended leave by boss Arsene Wenger after helping Chile to the knock-out rounds of this summer's World Cup.

Arsenal’s French contingent – including new signing Mathieu Debuchy - will return to training on Monday ahead of Arsenal's trip to Austria, before heading back to capital for the annual Emirates Cup tournament, where the Gunners will face Wenger’s old club Monaco, and Benfica.

Germany’s World Cup winners Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski have been given until August 11 before they need to return, effectively ruling them out of their Community Shield clash against Manchester City.
