Alexandre Pato to Chelsea: What you need to know about the Brazilian striker

Cerys Kenneally26 January 2016

Chelsea are undoubtedly having a busy week. With Ramires set to leave for China, Guus Hiddink is closing in on signing the Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato.

Standard Sport understands the 26-year-old is set to join Chelsea on loan until the end of the season, and his place at Stamford Bridge could become permanent if the Brazilian forward performs well.

Chelsea’s interest in Pato began with Jose Mourinho, who wanted to sign him before being dismissed in December last year.

Pato, currently on loan at Sao Paulo, is set to fill in for Falcao, who is suffering from a thigh injury.

Although there are concerns over his ability to keep up with the pace of the Premier League, Pato was praised for his acceleration on the pitch prior to a string of recurring injuries.

Guus Hiddink is close to finalising the transfer, and has negotiated a wage with the Brazilian, with Corinthians hoping a deal will be concluded in the next 48 hours.

But what is there to know about the Chelsea-bound striker? Standard Sport runs the rule over Pato in the video clip above.
