West Ham target Alexandre Lacazette is considering a departure from Lyon after a second successful season at the club.

As Standard Sport reported earlier this week Lacazette is among a number of leading strikers from Ligue 1 and the Premier League under consideration by West Ham, who are also open to a shock move for Leicester striker Jamie Vardy.

Co-chairman David Sullivan yesterday confirmed that his side had submitted a bid of £23.7million for a player in France. Lacazette is the leading contender for a move from France, with West Ham understood to be reluctant to battle Tottenham and Juventus for the Marseille forward.

Lacazette committed his future to Lyon last summer, signing a new contract on August 8 amid speculation linking him to Arsenal, but after a second successive season in which he has scored more than 20 goals in Ligue 1 he has admitted his future is up for consideration.

He told Canal +: “Will I still be in Ligue 1 next season? I will think about it. I need to take good decisions.

“I am very happy at the club. If there is better elsewhere, then I will see. I am happy at the club, but we will think about it.”

However Jean Michel Aulas, the Lyon president, maintained he was confident that Lacazette would stay at Lyon, the only club the 24-year-old has ever played for,

“It is 80% likely that Lacazette stays,” he said. “Lacazette is a big boy, so am I. We will not have a repeat if what happened last summer.”
