Alan Pardew insists he will not take a bonus from ADO Den Haag after the Dutch outfit avoided relegation from the Eredivisie.

The Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) decided to cancel the 2019/20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic after the government ruled all sporting events would be suspended until September 1.

Consequently, no team would be awarded the Eredivisie title nor would any side be relegated to or promoted from the second tier, the Eerste Divisie.

That decision appeared to provide the biggest benefit to ADO, who were seven points adrift of PEC Zwolle in the relegation zone with only eight games to play.

Pardew, who took charge of the Dutch club in December, was reported to have received a sizeable bonus following the KNVB's decision.

But in a statement on the club's website, the former Crystal Palace and Newcastle boss refuted the claims and insisted he would not take a bonus even if he was entitled to one.

"If I was already formally entitled to an amount, I would never want to receive it," he said.

"In this difficult period, I would always return any bonus to the club, which will certainly find a good destination for it."

Despite the club's safety being secured, it is unclear whether Pardew will remain in charge of the club beyond his current deal, which expires in June.
