Wales manager Ryan Giggs has urged Aaron Ramsey to make a swift decision over his Arsenal future as his contract approaches its final months.

Ramsey’s current Arsenal deal expires at the end of next season and is perhaps the most pressing matter for the Gunners hierarchy to solve after Mesut Ozil agreed an extension of his own last month worth up to £350,000-a-week.

The 27-year-old is currently earning in excess of £100,000-a-week and has established himself as one of Arsenal’s most important players despite a string of injuries that mean he has only once featured in 30 or more Premier League games in a season since the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

Ramsey’s importance for Arsenal is eclipsed by that for the Welsh national team, where he is arguably his country’s best player after Gareth Bale and for whom he is certain to be a key building block under new manager Giggs.

And the Manchester United great has hinted that it may be best for Ramsey to follow his own example and stay put in north London.

"I hope Aaron sorts it out sooner rather than later," Giggs told reporters. "Any player having talks with contracts you want it sorted out as quickly as possible.

"He's at a good club. From a personal point of view when you're at a club you're used to it can help you. You know all the staff and the players.

"I was always happy, there was always a challenge at United so I never saw any reason to leave. I was happy playing my football. I never got bored or felt the need to go anywhere else.”

Despite several muscular injuries slowing his progress Ramsey has been in excellent form for Arsenal this season, scoring eight goals and laying on six assists in 20 appearances.
