Aaron Ramsey’s double sent Wales to Euro 2020 as they beat Hungary 2-0 in their must-win clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Ryan Giggs’ side went into their final Group E game in third place, needing victory to leapfrog second-placed Hungary and seal automatic qualification for next summer’s tournament, without the need for a playoff.

Giggs had the advantage of being able to name his two superstars, Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale and Juventus star Aaron Ramsey, together in the same starting line-up for the first time in a year.

The duo combined to settle the nerves and open the scoring just 15 minutes in, as Bale’s terrific cross was headed home by Ramsey six-yards out.

The hosts were impressive, and had their dominance reflected in the scoreline soon after half-time when Ramsey showed terrific composure to steer into the roof of the net and double the lead.

The result means that Wales, who missed out on qualification for the 2018 World Cup, will be back at a major tournament, four years after they went on a remarkable run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 in France.
