Fired-up Rocket in another final

13 April 2012

A week of celebration for Ronnie O'Sullivan could end with another piece of silverware after a repeat victory over John Higgins.

O'Sullivan, still on cloud nine after beating Higgins for the Embassy World Championship title, remained in top gear to reach the final of the Sportingbet.co.uk Premier League.

"Everything has been going at 100 miles an hour since Sheffield so I'm quite pleased with that," said O'Sullivan, who beat Higgins 6-3.

The Rocket, also successful in the Champions Cup, Regal Scottish Masters, China Open and Irish Masters, goes forward to tackle Stephen Hendry over the best of 17 frames for a winner's cheque of £60,000. Hendry defeated Hong Kong's Marco Fu 6-5 in the other semi-final earlier today.

"Stephen is probably the greatest player who has ever picked up a cue so to beat him for another title would be a tremendous way to finish off the season," said O'Sullivan, the winner in 17 of his 30 encounters with Higgins.

"I played all right in the early stages. It wasn't scrappy but John missed a few and that helped," said O'Sullivan. "But after the interval he started to put me under pressure and I was relieved to get over the line."

O'Sullivan and Hendry are level at 14-14 in career head-to-head meetings but O'Sullivan has had the upper hand lately.

He beat Hendry 9-6 in the climax to October's Regal Scottish Masters, 6-3 in the semi-finals of December's China Open and 9-8 when they clashed in the Irish Masters two months ago.
