Finn called into England squad

Steven Finn has been called up to England's squad for Friday's second npower Test against India.

The 22-year-old Middlesex player has joined the squad because of injury doubts surrounding fellow pace bowler Chris Tremlett.

Tremlett tested his hamstring "niggle" for a second time during England's net session on Thursday afternoon, although captain Andrew Strauss appears optimistic the Surrey man will figure at Trent Bridge. Strauss said: "We are very confident he should be fine."

He added: "But like all these things, because there is such a short turnaround between the two Test matches, we've almost got to wait until tomorrow morning before we're 100% sure one way or another.

"We'll only pick him if we're 100% he'll get through the game."

Should Finn figure, he would go into the game in great form.

The 6ft 7in bowler returned fine figures of five wickets for 33 runs from eight overs in Thursday night's Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Derbyshire.
