Fight night: fans ignore the tennis for a scuffle

Spectators looked on in shock as a fist fight broke out among fans at the US Open tennis tournament.

Play was delayed in the eighth game of the match between Serbian Novak Djokovic and German Philipp Petzschner at the Arthur Ashe stadium in New York yesterday.

A US Tennis Association spokesman said it had been a "disagreement over verbiage".

Djokovic ignored the distraction as the fighting fans were pulled apart, going on to win and reach the third round.
