Fergie going senile, says Real chief

13 April 2012

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has claimed Sir Alex Ferguson is "going senile".

The Spaniard hit back after the Manchester United manager's recent criticism of Madrid's pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo in a GQ magazine interview.

Ferguson claimed Gabriel Heinze, who moved from United to Madrid for £8million last summer, was simply a pawn in Real's "obscene" hunt of the Argentine's close friend and former team-mate Ronaldo.

Ferguson also highlighted the club's old links with former Spanish dictator General Franco.

Marca today printed a series of pictures of the Scot changing into Franco, with a headline 'Ferguson Senile'. Calderon told the Madrid paper: "I won't waste time answering him. I admire his history but recently he has gone a bit senile."
